So this is obviously going to be subjective to me, but here are the best vegan cafes and restaurants I went to whilst I was in Los Angeles in November 2019.
5. Paradise Bowls – Hermosa Beach
This is just a humble little takeaway spot that was delightful. They do acai and pitaya (dragonfruit) based smoothie bowls with all the goodies you could want on it. My friend took me here for breakfast and we then wandered down to the Hermosa Beach Pier and enjoyed the sunshine and Sunday morning activities that were going on. Good for your belly, good for your soul.

4. The Butchers Daughter – Venice
My sister and I went here as our first stop and I was so excited. The decor has that homey, indoor plant, slightly fancy vibe. They sell oils and nice smelling stuff at the front door too which is great to smother yourself in.
We shared the mezze plate and the vegan carbonara which was amazing. I was coming down with a bit of a cold so chose to endure a shot of ginger which fixed it right up. It’s like drinking fire, but it’s great.

3. Sage – Culver City
This spot is amazing! I caught up with an old friend here for dinner and I was blown away by the food and the company. We sat outside under the heaters which kept us nice and warm on a chilly L.A. night. The cauliflowers “wings” are incredible and I highly recommended sharing plates. Not only are they high servings, but then you get to try even more.
I’m sorry, I didn’t take any photos here before it was just too good!
2. Flower Child – Santa Monica
This place was literally made for me! Located in Santa Monica it goes have a little bit of upper-class crowd milling around. But between the gorgeous girl who served us and the amazing artwork on the wall, it was bliss. The food was incredible as well. My sister and I stared at the menu for a long time before landing on something. This spot isn’t just vegan as it has meat options as well for our friends that are that way inclined.
The best thing I liked about this place is that for about $7 you get a glass jar and held yourself to 6 different types of lemonades and sweet teas. Amazing.

1. Seabirds Kitchen – Long beach
This place was stupidly good. Jesse took me here for lunch after we went for a long walk on a hill. The menu is all plant-based and you just have to have the mac ‘n’ cheese here. It’s absurd how good it is. I had a physical reaction of anger to it because it was so good. I didn’t know how other food would taste good after eating the mac ‘n’ cheese. The battered avocado taco gets an honourable mention too as I could have eaten about 15 of those things.

A very honourable mention goes to Monty’s Good Burger for their amazing salted caramel float. A small menu that consists of one burger, chip choice and milkshakes, this place is like a vegan McDonalds. If you’re in either Koreatown or Echo Park, definitely worth a visit.
So there you have it! If you have any other recommendations, please let me know as I’m always happy to eat more delicious food. But who isn’t, right?!
